Kingdom Hearts 3: Frozen World and Release Date Revealed

Gummi Ship, Elsa, Evil Aqua, and we have to wait a little longer.

During the Xbox E3 Briefing Event, the latest trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3 dropped, revealing a new world and juicy new story details.

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first. The game has been delayed (officially for the first time) from sometime this year to January 29, 2019

This a bummer for sure, especially how set Square Enix has been on releasing the game this year, but another month is fine. Everything’s fine.

ANYWAY, here’s the new trailer.

Arendelle, a world based off the movie Frozen, will be in Kingdom Hearts 3. After some cute banter, Sora, Donald, and Goofy watch as Elsa runs away after revealing her powers to her sister and her kingdom, confirming the world will be based on the events of the movie.

After meeting Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf, we see the new Blizzard Blades keyblade transformation, and a fun “Goofy Curling” mechanic where the party shield surfs down a snowy mountain (your move, Breath of the Wild).

We then see that Simba returns to series as a summon, and a new Attraction Flow, Splash Run, based off river rapid rides like Grizzly River Run at Disney California Adventure.

After some new Tangled and Monsters, Inc. world footage, the Gummi Ship is back! The mini-game doesn’t seem to have changed much since KH2, but it still looks like a breezy blast.

Set to the game’s theme song “Don’t Think Twice,” we next see a bunch of brief cut scene clips, including the reveal that the sadistic Organization XIII member Larxene returns and will appear in the Frozen world, mulling over whether Elsa will choose the light or the darkness.

Speaking of darkness, the big reveal at the end of the trailer is that Aqua has seemingly been consumed by darkness, like her old pal Terra, complete with glowing yellow eyes (and her hair is kinda white, so she’s a Xehanort now?).

Has really Aqua fallen to the darkness? Will there be a musical “Let it Go” minigame like Atlantica from KH2? Can I wait seven more months?

WE’LL SEE.

Kingdom Hearts 3 finally releases on PS4 and Xbox One on January 29, 2019.
