There are some video games that should never be made into films. The Angry Birds Movie was one of them and Super Mario Bros. is another great example as well. Unfortunately, it appears that Sony Pictures is willing to take a gamble and produce a film about a fast-running hedgehog with an attitude and now that Tim Miller is attached to the project the project surely can’t fail, right?
Sony’s idea of turning Sonic the Hedgehog into a film was announced back in February and since then things have been fairly quiet up until now. The film has Jeff Fowler (Gopher Broke) attached to it as the director and Neal H. Moritiz (Fast and Furious) is executive producer, so with Tim Miller coming on to help both Jeff and Neal out maybe Sony thinks the film has a chance. However, as a wise man once said, “Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it”.
