FX has the movies, and all of the hit TV shows.
FX Networks officially began developing the script for the long-rumored Sons of Anarchy spinoff, “Mayans MC.” The show is being produced by Elgin James and Kurt Sutter, the creator of Sons of Anarchy. James wants the show to be a “dark, visceral family drama that takes a new look at the most American of icons, the 1% outlaw, this time reflected through a Latino lens.”
“I wanted to find a strong, unique Latino voice,” said Sutter of James, “Because I didn’t think a white guy from Jersey should be writing about Latin culture and traditions. Elgin is that voice.”
“The Mayans” were recurring characters on the hit TV drama that ran for seven full seasons on the FX Network, and was rated as one of the best dramas in the network’s history. Sutter has a good track record with the network, having been a writer on “The Shield,” another hit FX drama, eventually becoming produced of the show. After “Sons” concluded, he created “The Bastard Executioner,” a very short-lived drama also on the network.
