“You don’t know a thing about me.”
Less than a month, people. Less than a month.
The Force Awakens rapidly approaches, and with it, new TV Spots (commercials) giving us coveted new footage.
The latest TV Spot focuses on John Boyega’s mysterious Finn.
Check it out below.
Perhaps the newest, and coolest, bit of footage from the teaser is a shot of Finn fighting a Stormtrooper with Anakin’s old lightsaber.
We don’t know much about Finn.
We’ve speculated on his relation to other Star Wars characters before, but let’s breakdown what we know about the guy.
Based off the trailers, Finn appears to be a First Order (new Empire) Stormtrooper who becomes disillusioned with their plans, and goes a-wall.
He abandons the Order via a TIE fighter, which is shot down, leaving him stranded on Jakku, the home world of the film’s other protagonist, Rey.
The two meet up, Finn acquires the Skywalker’s lightsaber somehow, and he eventually has a duel with Kylo Ren, which he obviously is unprepared for.
The sequence of events listed above is all just speculation, but the evidence is there.
However, there’s plenty more about Finn we don’t know.
Maybe he wasn’t really a Stormtrooper. Perhaps he was a mole for the Resistance (Rebel Alliance) who couldn’t take it any more. He appears to be dressed in a very Rebellion-looking jacket for most of the film, anyway.
Also, the lightsaber. Looking past how he receives the legendary weapon, is Finn Force sensitive? The TV Spot shows he has some skill with the laser sword, but can he hold his own against the powerful Kylo Ren?
The film is called “The Force Awakens,” so is this referring to him? Or possibly Rey?
We don’t know, but Disney and Lucasfilm could be crafting an elaborate ruse to make us all think Finn is destined to be a Jedi, as almost every promotional image for the film features him with lightsaber in hand.
Is Finn just a normal dude swinging a lightsaber? Or is he destined to become a Jedi, and learn the ways of the Force?
Again, we don’t know, and we like it that way. These trailers are purposely cryptic so that we can go insane speculating “who is who” and “what is what.”
Everyone, only a few more weeks. Hang on for just a little bit longer.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes to theaters on December 18.
