Star Wars VII Fan Theories – Finn Related to Lando? Kylo Ren and Rey are Twins?

We know very little about the main characters in the upcoming Star Wars film, but you may just find some or all of these identity theories interesting…

While there are many theories floating around the web, keep in mind that they are nothing more than that; theories. No matter how obscure, obtuse, abstract, or downright silly they may be, anything is possible at this point, however unlikely they may turn out to be.

Reddit /user/Pituquasi‘s theory revolves around the possibility of a clone of Darth Vader, something that is not too crazy when you think about how the stormtroopers were created, and the events of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed video game, something widely considered canon by fans and authorities on the subject. Here is his theory pulled from the /r/fantheories thread:

Why did anyone want Darth Vader’ skull? Why does Kylo Ren hide his identity behind a mask? Vader was injured, what’s Ren’s reason? In the trailer why does Luke refer to his father in the present?
Consider what we already know. The legend of Darth Plaugueius and the “creation ” of Anakin as his “project”.
Kylo Ren is a clone of Anakin, created using the genetic material from Vader’s remains and raised by the inquisitors to be Vader 2.0. The upbrining and training of this clone has been directed by an awoken Darth Plagueius.
EDIT: Vendilion has a brilliant point. Kylo Ren’s body looks potentially femenine. What if the mask (and voice changer) is to hide that? We all know how much Disney loves its princesses
EDIT: Just saw the 5/4 pics. Driver is Ren. I’m guessing the mask is just for breathing in hostile environments and/or give him a HUD/AR functionality… like trooper’s helmets.

After one user comments that Anakin lives on in the Cosmic Force, /user/Pituquasi goes on:

Except that Anakin was never an ordinary Jedi/Sith/Force user. He was not naturally conceived but rather an incarnation of the force itself. Plagueius impregnated Shmi (a very underexplained character) with the force thus Anakin was the product of the force and a “flesh and bone” woman. Sidious tells Anakin years later that Plagueius had the power to do this. Sidious, in true “Satan-like” jealousy and fear of his Master’s great creation kills his Master and takes the creation as his own tool to use. Anakin was created to be a weapon, a superior being. Plagueius “death” throws the plan off course and Anakin, although one day a Sith Lord, was already irreversibly corrupted by the light. Vader 2.0 wouldnt be.

One of our staff members, @Joe_Ritchey came up with what is a more possible theory that Kylo Ren is the son of Leia and Han, which is a popular theory among many fans, and he ends up becoming obsessed with his maternal grandfather, Darth Vader.

Kylo Ren is one of two children, twins of Han and Leia. Both of which are highly sensitive to the force, and a sort of homage to the original trilogy between Luke and Leia, with the latter never having embraced the force, despite being sensitive to it. That said, the plot twist of the two siblings would be an interesting and unique point that could pit the two against each other throughout the new trilogy, as is assumed that Kylo Ren will be the main antagonist through all three films. Additionally, Luke is a hermit like Obi Wan was in A New Hope, being aware of the twins, their circumstances, and his relationship by blood through them. Luke does not have any children of his own, but stays hidden to avoid causing chaos and turmoil around his location while being hunted by the Empire/Dark Side.

Additionally, John Boyega’s character ‘Finn’ is a relative of Lando Calrissian with evidence to support this. In the D23 Expo poster shown below, Finn is holding what is presumably Anakin’s lightsaber, which was last seen in Cloud City at the end of The Empire Strikes Back. Also in the bottom right corner of the same poster are the same steps in the room where Han Solo was frozen in carbonite. Finn hails from Cloud City and finds the lightsaber.

Handsomelygeek of ComicBookMovie.com has a more interesting theory with a little less to support who Finn could possibly be:

We’ve seen the toy box art leak of Finn’s action figure with name Finn (Jakku). We also know that Jakku is the desert planet within the Star Wars universe (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Jakku) and likely the planet we see featured in both of the teasers. You’ll notice in the toy box leak Finn’s figure did not include a light saber. Just a blaster in his right hand. However in the official movie poster released at D23 we have Finn holding what looks to be Luke’s blue lightsaber from Empires Strikes back.

Taking this two points into account and Luke’s voiceover line from the second teaser trailer “…and you have it “ I believe Finn to be Finn Skywalker. Luke Skywalker’s son. I know what you are thinking, but he’s black, my response is: so what. I really hope i do not need to explain this. Has Luke be living a solitary, celibate life over the last 30 years? I really doubt it. I can also see Star Wars using some extended Legacy universe Mara Jade Stories as inspiration for Finn’s mother. But I’ll come back to that in a second.

However, Handsomelygeek‘s thoughts on Rey, the potentially primary focus of the film is a little more supported in his evidence of her identity:

She seems to be the central character of this film. She has received a great amount of screen time in the first 2 teasers as well as all of the promotional marketing. She’s front and center on the official movie poster. She is this trilogy’s Luke.

We also know from all the press Han Solo will also be a major character in this film. However we still don’t know Rey’s last name. She’s the only major character without a last name, prefix or a surname for that matter. Finn has (Jakku), Phasma has Captain and Poe has Dameron. With those two points I’m going to put it out there that Rey is the Daughter of the legendary smuggler Hans Solo and rebel leader Princess Leia. I don’t believe her resemblance to Leia was a casting coincidence. My theory that Rey’s character is inspired by Jaina Solo from the extended Legacy universe. And like the extended universe she is not an only child and has a major connection with another Force Awakens character.
