If you’re impatient, hate ads, and spend a lot of time watching videos on Youtube, YouTube Red might be just for you.

[dropcap size=small]Y[/dropcap]esterday YouTube announced a special subscription that allows you to avoid any commercial of any kind on YouTube for the monthly fee of $10. At first the deal doesn’t sound all that appealing, why pay $10 when you can just mute the video and wait twenty seconds? Well YouTube, which is owned by Google, is also offering the ability to watch videos when you’re offline and/or in the background of your phone . That means every time you open Facebook, Twitter, your email, etc, the video that you were watching won’t close.

If the subscription still doesn’t sound very appealing to you, the deal will also include a subscription to Google Play Music. Google Play Music is Google’s version of Spotify and will allow you to stream music whenever you want. There will also be a special YouTube Music App that comes with the subscription.

“YouTube Music is designed to make discovering, watching and listening to music easier than ever,” the company said in a statement. “Any song or artist you choose on YouTube Music will start you on a personal journey through one of the richest music catalogs; just sign in, tap a track you love, and see where your music takes you. And as a special bonus–YouTube Red works with Google Play Music, so subscribe to one and automatically get access to the other.”

There are a few downsides to YouTube Red subscription unfortunately. Just because you have a YouTube Red subscription that doesn’t mean you have access to YouTube’s library of movies that you would normally purchase through the Google Play Store. Not only that, you cannot download music from Google Play Music directly to your phone and listen to it while you’re offline like you can with a Spotify subscription. There will also be ads on some videos if content creators have specifically put them there.

If you’re unsure if you’d like to purchase YouTube Red, the website is offering a one month free subscription starting October 28th. YouTube also plans on offering their own original programming that is exclusively available to those that have YouTube Red. This means YouTube’s famous members like PewDiePie and College Humor will have videos that can only be viewed with the subscription.

YouTube Red is an excellent way to watch videos on YouTube any time you want and combined with a subscription to Google Play Music, Google is presenting a fairly decent deal. Still, for the price of $10 a month you could have a subscription to Spotify and patiently wait to either skip the ad in a video after six seconds or just wait for twenty-four seconds to pass by. Is it a fair deal? You be the judge and let us know how you feel about it in the comments below or on Twitter!
