[dropcap size=small]O[/dropcap]scar Isaac has closed a deal to star as the villain Apocalypse in the upcoming film X-Men: Apocalypse, according to Variety.
The actor’s career has been on quite the upward trajectory. He’s had standout roles in the films Sucker Punch and Drive, and starred in the Coen brothers’ most recent film, Inside Llewyn Davis. He also stars in the upcoming A Most Violent Year, and was announced to have a role in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
A young Apocalypse was first shown in the post-credit scene of X-Men: Days of Future Past. The film version of the character will follow closely to the comic book version – as a mutant thousands of years old.
Isaac is the first new actor to sign to the project after news emerged that director Bryan Singer was seeking new actors for younger versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm.
