Wakanda Forever!
Earlier this week, the nominees for the 91st Academy Awards were finally announced.
Leading the pack with the most nominations is the Netflix film Roma and the period piece The Favourite, each with 10 nominations. Earning seven nominations was Marvel Studios’ Black Panther.
Most notable among the awards that Black Panther is up for is the coveted Best Picture, making it the first MCU film to receive this recognition. This isn’t too surprising considering the phenomenon the film was nearly a year ago; receiving stellar reviews and grossing over a billion dollars worldwide.
Also notable is the acclaimed (and my favorite film of 2018) Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse nominated for Best Animated Feature. We wish the film best of luck as it goes up against Disney heavy-hitters Incredibles 2 and Ralph Breaks the Internet.
Check out the complete list of 2019 Oscar nominees below (thank you to Slashfilm).
