J.K. Simmons has a played a number of memorable characters over the years, so let’s hope his take on Jim Gordon in for the DCEU is indeed a worthy addition to the list above.Â
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight to promote his film The Meddler, Simmons shared some details on what we can expect from him as Gordon in the upcoming Justice League.Â
He first revealed that, appropriately, most of his scenes will be between him and Batman.Â
“Yeah [my scenes were filmed], mostly with Ben. In this first installment of the Justice League, Commissioner Gordon is not a particularly sizable part. We just kind of introduce him and see a little bit of his interactions with Batman — and with most of the Justice League.”
He then spoke on the atmosphere of the film’s set, and what it’s like to work with Zack Synder.
“That was a really fun set. Zack [Snyder] runs sort of a big, happy family and it’s obviously, in many ways, a very different work environment when you’re working on a big, giant movie like that than a relatively small movie like The Meddler.”
Friendly reminder that HE’S JACKED.
Finally, he again emphasized how great a guy Snyder apparently is, and revealed he is done filming his scenes.Â
“But at the end of the day, the director is the one who sets the tone. And one of the things that Zack and Lorene [Scafaria, director of the The Meddler] have in common is they’re just nice, smart, competent, fun people that you don’t mind spending a 12-hour day with. My part is done. They are filming that for basically most of 2016, so some of the superheroes are still at work in jolly old London, but I’m back home with my family.”
Well, it’s nice to know Simmons had a good time on set, and he seems pretty confident in his upcoming role, as well as the anticipated DC film. Let’s hope it pans out.Â
Justice League hits theaters on November 16, 2017.
