[dropcap size=small]D[/dropcap]aniel Lee’s upcoming Chinese war epic Dragon Blade starring Jackie Chan, John Cusack, and Adrien Brody has released its first trailer, and it is as entertaining as it sounds. Check it out below.

Chan plays the main protagonist Commander Huo An who forms an alliance with Roman general Lucius (played by Cusack) in order to fight against Brody’s evil General Tiberius while on a conquest to unify the Silk Road. The film also stars French singer Lorie Pester as the female lead with South Korean singer/actor Choi Siwon in a major role. Dragon Blade is a piece of historical fiction with lots of action, and judging from the trailer, the movie will feature plenty of English as well as Mandarin.

As of now, the film only has a release set for China and does not have a U.S. distributor; however, the trailer’s use of strictly English dialogue may be a subtle effort to incite interest from across the Pacific. Between Chan, Cusack, and Brody (as odd of a trio as they may be), they all have appeal in Western cinema, so the film could very well be picked up at a later time.

Chan’s popularity in films like the Rush Hour series could definitely contribute to Dragon Blade finding a North American distributor sooner than later. Brody’s casting in the foreign film is somewhat surprising, but for Cusack, this seems like another day at the office. In recent years, his roles have been so varied, and he was in six films in 2014 alone. Six! Keep on keeping on, John.
