This week we have a horror movie grudge match (literally), a boy and his dragon, and a man’s plot to kill his friends.
Sadako vs. Kayako (The Ring vs. The Grudge)
What happens when you pit two of the most prolific horror ghouls of the past 15 years against one another?
Screwed; you kinda get screwed.
The trailer for Sadako vs. Kayako, The Ring vs. The Grudge, brings together two of the best films every created in the genre of Japanese horror. Although both films did see western releases, they were originally released in Japan.
Not much is known about the plot of the movie besides that a girl named Yuri has been caught in the middle of a fight between the two baddies, which is something that could really ruin your whole day or life for that matter.
Although the film only has a release date for Japanese audiences at the moment, it should be assumed that the film will be either subbed or dubbed for western audiences.
Sadako vs. Kayako is set for release in June of 2016 in Japan.
Pete’s Dragon
Disney is taking a new spin on a timeless classic. For those of you who are unaware, the original Pete’s Dragon was a live-action and animated musical film from 1977, based around an orphan boy Pete and his dragon, Elliot, in the early 1900s.
The remake however is ditching the animation for CGI and the singing for action. The film has also moved time periods from the early 1900s to the 1970s. Pete also no longer runs away from an adopted family and is seen living alone in the woods by himself. The film will focus on Grace, a forest ranger, and her father trying to figure out why Pete lives in the forest and where he came from.
Pete’s Dragon stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence, and Robert Redford and hits theaters August 12th.
Kill Your Friends
The best way to secure yourself a job is to make sure there is no competition. Killing the competition however is generally frowned upon.
Kill Your Friends centers around Steven Stelfox, a young man in the music industry in London who is climbing his way to the top. Steven is fueled by ambition, greed, and a ton of drugs and is always searching for the next big record.
But when the industry takes a turn for the worst, Steven must protect and salvage his career by eliminating his competition.
Kill Your Friends stars Nicholas Hoult, James Corden, Georgia King, Craig Roberts, Jim Piddock, Joseph Mawle, Ed Skrein, and Tom Riley and hits theaters April 1st.
