They’ve returned to finish what they started 20 years ago.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he first trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence just invaded the internet showing off an all-star cast, breathtaking CGI and the potential for the film to be a sci-fi thriller that will dominate the box office. Cast members from the previous Independence Day have returned, with the exception of Will Smith, and director Roland Emmerich has returned too. Check out the trailer below.
One of the most interesting aspects about the trailer is that you never actually get to see the aliens. It seems Roland Emmerich wants Independence Day: Resurgence to be more than just a sci-fi action film and may have found his inspiration in Ridley Scott’s Alien and Prometheus. Characters from the previous film have returned and it looks like Jeff Goldblum’s David Levinson, the man who cracked the alien code to save humanity, is the central character in the upcoming film. Bill Pullman is returning as the (former) President Whitmore and other characters like David’s father Julius Levinson (Judd Hirsch) and stripper-now-scientist Jasmine (Vivica A. Fox) will be making an appearance.
Independence Day: Resurgence invades theaters on June 24th, 2016.
