Set in England during a new time period in 1947, the film follows a young orphan girl who, after being sent to live with her uncle, discovers a magical garden on the grounds of his estate.
Fans of the 1911 Frances Burnett novel will recognize a major change in the film’s time period which will inevitably alter the overall plot some. The novel’s original period, which took place at the turning point of the 20th century, has been altered in the film to take place in England in 1947, just after WWII.

The Secret Garden stars Colin Firth, Julie Walters, and Dixie Egerickx is a new take on the beloved classic novel of the same name written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. No official North American release date has been announced at this time, though it is set to release in the United Kingdom on April 10.
