‘The Mandalorian’ may get a Two-Hour Movie Tie-In if the Show is Successful

If The Mandalorian proves successful, we may get a movie adaptation sometime in the future.

Disney+ is breaking records left and right, and with its exclusive streamable content, particularly The Mandalorian, it is likely to only go up from there.

Earlier this week, we reviewed The Mandalorian, and spoiler alert: we liked it. And it turns out we are not the only ones, as the first episode is receiving relatively universal acclaim, due largely in part to Jon Favreau’s writing and setup for the remaining seven episodes (of the eight episodes, he wrote six of them).

If the positive feedback for The Mandalorian continues, it is highly likely that we may get a movie spinoff or tie-in, at least that is what Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and CCO Alan Horn is suggesting.

“The Mandalorian is already proving to be a big thing, so if that series proves to be so compelling that we reverse engineer it into a theatrical release, a two-hour film or whatever, O.K.” -Alan Horn

So yeah, The Mandalorian is likely to get a movie. But not so fast, we are only one episode into the first season, which contains only eight episodes. We have a lot more that needs to be proven to ensure a film franchise for Pascal and whomever would be joining him on the big screen.

The Mandalorian is the first in what we expect is a long line of exclusive Star Wars content, and it is off to a great start. The first episode debuted this past Wednesday, and episode two is set to launch on Friday, November 15 with a weekly occurrence continuing every Friday after (episode 3 debuts on Nov 22, etc).

For now, all we know is that The Mandalorian is going well and that we can’t wait to see what is in store for the future of the series and the larger Star Wars franchise on Disney+.
