The first full-length trailer for HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 is out and it gives us a clear look at the controversial character of Abby Anderson, played by Kaitlyn Dever. Take a look for yourself below:
While the show’s first season received critical acclaim, the casting came into question pretty early on. The performances quickly shut a lot of those people up but you know how the internet is about things like this- as long as someone has an opinion, they are going to share it. And that too is no doubt going to hit Season 2 pretty hard in some ways. We won’t spoil anything here but you will want to be careful browsing any other news or details about the games or what is expected to come this April when the show hits streaming platforms.
The Last of Us’ first season was a master class in streamable television but it did have a shortcoming or two. For us, the short length of the show did little to build up the tensions that players felt when going through the games, something we fear will come back with Season 2. A show as emotionally narrative driven based on source material like Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed game franchise deserves at least 12 episodes a season, rather than speed-running across bullet pointed story beats as quickly as possible. Regardless, Season 2 will arrive in a few months and you can bet we will be eagerly anticipating each episode’s release.
