Playstation 4’s lead architect, Mark Cerny, is rumored to be working on the final developments of The Last Guardian.

[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]here is a short, but popular list of games that various Playstation 4 owners have been expecting to be released or announced at E3. Games like Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot are typically the games that come to mind for most gamers who owned the original Playstation back in the mid 90s. But there is one game that several Playstation fans have been wondering if it will ever see the light of day. That game is The Last Guardian.

The Last Guardian was originally announced at E3 back in 2009, with a trailer that can be viewed here. Since then, the game has suffered multiple delays with plenty of rumors saying that the game was cancelled. The game even completely missed its slated launch date for the Playstation 3 and last year a rumor surfaced that the game was terminated and wouldn’t be released. Luckily Sony released a statement stating that the game, while not completely finished, was not cancelled.

Not long ago, it was suggested Playstation 4’s lead architect Mark Cerny and his team had taken over The Last Guardian‘s final developments. Stewart Gilary, the studio head of Just Add Water, commented in a PS Nation podcast that The Last Guardian now has a new team leading its final development. He said:

“I did hear a funny story about The Last Guardian. It’s a certain somebody’s software team. And that certain somebody is the guy that helped out with the architecture of Vita and PS4. I’m led to believe that his team is bringing The Last Guardian to the finish. That’s all I’m saying.”

Stewart Gilary’s statement is rather cryptic but fortunately for us, Gameinformer reached out to him for more information regarding just who was in charge of The Last Guardian.

“Cerny spoke about The Last Guardian last year saying it’s definitely still happening,” Gilray told Gameinformer. “It’s a Tokyo Studio project. Ueda-san even said the TLG team was working on Knack with Cerny. Adding all these elements together it seems like a good bet that he, or at least his team is involved, wouldn’t you say?”

This statement, along with a statement released by The Guardian earlier this week, further defends the idea that we will see some sort of announcement regarding the release of The Last Guardian at E3.
