Great Scott!

The solo Flash movie for the DCEU may finally be getting a director! (Again.) (Again.)

Per a report via ScreenJunkies, personalities from the popular YouTube channel have apparently heard from a number of sources that Robert Zemeckis is in talks to direct the Flash film for Warner Bros.

Zemeckis has directed a number of high-profile films over the past few decades, including the Back to the Future trilogy, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, as well as those creepy motion capture animated films like The Polar Express and Beowulf.

As discussed in the video above, apparently Zemeckis is a big fan of Flash, and would want to work on the character’s solo outing.

The Flash movie has had a very troubled preproduction, as two directors have already left the project. Seth Grahame-Smith (writer of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) was set to helm the film a year ago, but left due to “creative differences,” and Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) was next in-line to work on the project, but also left due to “creative differences.” So far, all we know about the movie is that Ezra Miller will star as Barry Allen/ The Flash, Kiersey Clemons will portray Iris West, and Billy Crudup is set to play Henry Allen.

As with any rumor regarding DCEU films, take this report with a HUGE grain of salt. That being said, this would be awesome. Zemeckis is responsible for some of the greatest films of all time, and with his experience with time travel narratives, he’d be a good fit for the Scarlett Speedster. Plus, it would add some much needed director diversity (cough…Zacky S…cough). Only time will tell if this actually happens.

RUN BARRY, RUN!
