Charlie Brooker himself didn’t reveal the news, Hugh Grant did while sitting down for an interview with the Vulture.
It appears Hugh Grant wasn’t supposed to reveal this news and it was an accidental slip when he was asked, “Do you know right now what you might do next?” and Grant responded with:
“I’m doing a thing tomorrow, actually. Charlie Brooker has written a mockumentary about 2020. It’s for Netflix, and I am a historian who’s being interviewed about the year. I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig”
Charlie Brooker was asked earlier this year in the spring about whether or not he was working on a new season of Black Mirror. Brooker denied this saying, “At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart. So I’m not working away on any one of those [‘Black Mirror’ episodes].”
Charlie Brooker is right, 2020 has been nothing but painful existence for all of us and so a mockumentary surrounding everything that’s happened could be exactly what we need. As if often said, laughter is always the best medicine. Fingers crossed we see this mockumentary soon!
