Straight Outta Compton has beaten out competition from War Room and Mission Impossible to remain at the top of the charts.
[dropcap size=small]S[/dropcap]traight Outta Compton has topped the box office charts for the third week running. The biographical drama grossed over $13 million this weekend, taking its total gross just past an impressive $134 million.
Alex Kendrick’s War Room pushed it closest in its opening weekend, despite only a 25% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. War Room earned a total of $11.4 million this weekend, while another newcomer, No Escape, the action thriller starring Owen Wilson, Lake Bell and Pierce Brosnan, came in at fourth in the standings with $8.1 million. Zac Efron’s DJ film, We Are Your Friends, meanwhile, opened to just $1.8 million and an unwanted place in box office history.
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation remains in the top three having raked in $8.1 million, which takes MI:V ($170 million) past Ant-Man ($169 million) in total gross. Paul Rudd’s Marvel debut came in at eighth in the standings, making £3.1 million in its seventh week.
