When you hear the name “Maverick”, chances are you immediately think of Tom Cruise in Top Gun, Planes, fighter pilots, or something similar. After today, it may have you thinking about Star Wars…
Earlier today, a Twitter bot by developer Luciano Ciccariello discovered a new Star Wars title listed on the European PlayStation Network. Due to the bots design and purposes for sleuthing out updates and new-releases on the PlayStation Network, the @psnrelease bot managed to capture data on an unannounced Star Wars project under the name ‘Project Maverick’.

Looking at the image above, you can see what is very clearly a small group of X-Wings flying just below a Star Destroyer on what appears to be Mustafar, the molten lava planet seen in Revenge of the Sith where Anakin and Obi-Wan have their final showdown. While we only have the image to go off of, I suspect that whatever this new game is, it will be centered around being a pilot, a la Rogue Squadron. This would support the naming choice of Project Maverick and connect the mental dots in my head thus linking the idea of becoming a “maverick” fighter pilot. Either that or this is all just a big marketing push to sell more Logan Paul merchandise.
We do not have any further information on this mystery Star Wars game project, but we do know that EA is hard at work on a couple of unannounced titles within the Star Wars universe. One title is a sequel to the hit game Fallen Order, and the other game is unknown, though this appears to be it.
Nothing more is known about Project Maverick as of yet, but we have a feeling that once this news starts to gain traction, EA will be forced to show its hand and reveal what’s next for Star Wars on the PlayStation and likely other gaming platforms.
