Sinister Six: Better late than never at all, right?

[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]ith any huge merger, like Sony and Marvel’s sharing of Spiderman, there are bound to be a few casualties. However, one idea wasn’t completely dead and buried.

Drew Goddard, writer of the upcoming film version of The Martian, gave a hint during an interview that his Sinister Six idea wasn’t completely off the table. In an interview with io9, Goddard talked about his idea, and how it could easily it could fit into the cinematic universe.

“My vision of that movie was a summer annual,” Goddard told io9. “So you didn’t have to worry about continuity. It was just, ‘we take Peter, put him on an adventure, we put him back in his life.’ I intentionally wanted a movie that didn’t have to worry about mythology and continuity. It was important to me to make a movie that could stand on its own. So the good news is, you know, [laughs], it slots in very well to any plan anybody ever wants. We just need to let a couple years go by, I think.”

Goddard also talks about how excited he is now that Marvel and Sony are working together to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel cinematic world. He has big plans for upcoming film series devoted to Spider-Man, starting in 2017.

Whether it’s a Marvel / Sony production, or just Sony, there is hope for the Sinister Six movie. What are your thoughts on Sinister Six?
