These special edition 2DS’s are sure to delight Pokémon fans.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he official Japanese Pokémon website recently revealed the first 2DS consoles set to hit Japan, will come in the shape of 4 special edition Pokémon themed handheld consoles. These nifty 2DS’s will pay homage to the upcoming re-release of Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow on the 3DS.
The special 2DS edition’s will be outfitted with the original game already installed on the console, and matches up in colour – with a transparent detailing that’s reminiscent of the old-school transparent GameBoy colour that rocked many a childhood.
They will continue to pay homage to those fantastic classic Pokémon games with special home menu themes, stickers and an original game map.
The handheld will also come with a downloadable code which will allow players to get their hands on the rare Pokémon, Mew. Mew can be used on the installed games, but it will also be compatible with Pokémon X and Y, as well as Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby.
The consoles are due to hit Japan 27 February, 2016 alongside the games re-release.
Unfortunately, we haven’t been given any indication of if or when these special 2Ds consoles will hit western markets, but folks can take solace in knowing we’ll get to re-live Red, Blue and Yellow February 27, 2016 as well.
