Spawn is nearly resurrected!
[dropcap=small]S[/dropcap]pawn is getting closer to returning to the big screen. Creator Todd McFarlane has stated that the creator will have a much different tone than when he last saw him. In an interview with ComicBook.com, he said his “hard R” aims for the character would be less like the run of recent superhero action films of the last few years, with hopes of delivering a darker affair. He also said that it will be more in the horror or suspense category than the superhero category, something along the lines of a mix between The Departed and Paranormal Activity.
“He’s this thing that just whooshes in, this ghost that moves and will f–k you up if you’re in the wrong place in the wrong time,” McFarlane said. “And the rest of the movie will look real, and be this real drama. He’s just this ghost, this thing behind it.”
He also wants Spawn to be a mystery to the crowd working more as a boogeyman type of character unlike the original. McFarlane has also stated that the film will not be filled with over the top special effects and will be much more grittier. The script was completed for Spawn and is bigger than other scripts. McFarlane attributes that to all of the details that he put into the script.
There is no release date yet for Spawn.
