Two New Variations of Sony’s Flagship Console are Coming Soon, and for a Great Price
Not so surprising, Sony shard details via the Playstation Blog about their two new console variations of the dominant PS4 home console. Coming in two new types, the PS4 Pro looks familiar enough, but with an extra layer, keeps to a similar size and height of the current PS4, but comes with a bunch of new features.
PS4 Pro
Releasing on November 10, PS4 Pro is priced at a modest $399 USD with 4K resolution and HDR with better frame rates, enhancing the experience of existing PS4 titles. A more powerful GPU and a quicker CPU also comes with the Pro, which will increase performance exponentially making the best possible play experience for gamers.
Games like Uncharted 4, which already come with PS4 Pro support, will receive a patch on Pro’s launch day to see these noticeable visual changes, but games like Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Mass Effect: Andromeda, and Days Gone will receive these patch updates at a later time.
Additionally, PS4 Pro still takes advantage of displays without 4K or HDR, adding that any display with 1080p resolution will run smoother, with more stability and a higher framerate.
PS4 Standard – Slim
The new Standard, coined “PS4 Slim” by many, releases much earlier on September 15 of this year, for only $299 USD and boasts a “more energy efficient form factor” dropping power consumption by 28%. But using less power isn’t all that’s new. The Standard PS4 has 30% less mass volume and 16% weight trimmed off as well.
No new power or graphical enhancements have been added, so if you already own a PS4 with a nice home setup, then you may want to skip on this new design.
In any case, Sony promises that regardless of your current experience with PS4, whether you own one or have been waiting, the same great gaming experience will be available to you as anyone else, regardless of the console of your preference, as long as it’s under the PS4 roof.
