[dropcap=small]A[/dropcap]fter months of leaked Sony emails and rumors floating around about Spider-Man’s possible introduction into the MCU, we finally have an answer direct from the source.
Minutes ago, Sony and Marvel announced that they have negotiated a partnership that will ultimately introduce Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I repeat, SPIDER-MAN WILL BE JOINING THE MCU!
Hey, MCU, I’ll be right there!
It appears that “the new Spider-Man” is first set to appear in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, and then the web-slinger will star in a standalone film of his own which is set to release July 28th, 2017. The new Spider-Man film will be produced by Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal, who recently stepped down from her position as co-chairman of Sony.
Considering that the Spider-Man franchise has grossed Sony over $4 billion, they will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films. Though it’s safe to assume that Feige will definitely be heavily involved, however it should be noted that Andrew Garfield is not set to return and likely won’t be seen on screen as the wall-crawling webhead again, unfortunately.
From Left to Right: Thor, Scarlet Witch, Cap’n, Hawkeye, Not Andrew Garfield, Wasp, Iron Man
This is some huge news. Now we just all have to convince the studio execs to keep Andrew Garfield in the Spidey suit.

THIS is the greatest cinematic news I have heard in years. Finally. FINALLY I will have my change to play Peter Parker in a big time Marvel movie.
