Samuel L. Jackson and George Lucas Believe Mace Windu is Alive

Well..he’d probably be dead by Episode VII… Whatever.

Mace Windu. It’s hard to forget that purple lightsaber-wielding-Jango Fett-decapitating Jedi from the Star Wars prequels; especially amongst the endless supply of forgettable characters found in those movies.

Anyway, in Revenge of the Sith, poor Mace loses his hand and is flung out a window, thanks in part to a dark side-seduced Anakin, and freshly wrinkled Palpatine.

How exactly did the Emperor’s face get messed up again? Does Force lightning only make you look old and gross if it’s reflected back at you through a lightsaber?

Moving on.

Since then, Windu has been presumed dead, but Samuel L. Jackson (Mace himself) thinks otherwise. George Lucas too, apparently.

In a recent Twitter fan Q&A, Jackson addressed a question regarding Windu’s untimely demise. Jackson explains that (in his mind), Windu isn’t dead, as “Jedi’s can fall incredibly high distances and not die.”

Sound logic aside, Jackson has stuck to his claims, as in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor reiterated that Windu is alive (in his mind).

“Of course he is! Jedi can fall from amazing distances. And there’s a long history of one-handed Jedi. So why not?”

Jackson then confirmed that his theory has the blessing of Star Wars creator and Papa Prequels, George Lucas.

“George is like, ‘I’m okay with that. You can be alive.”

Well there you have it. If Lucas said it, it must be true.

Be sure to stay after the credits of Episode VIII. Windu is going to ask to Rey to join the Avengers.
