The movies may be over, but it opened the door for this new TV series!
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]hen Rush Hour first hit theaters in 1998, it quickly gained an audience and that audience grew when the sequel came out in 2001. When the final Rush Hour movie, the trilogy ended in disappointment. Now, CBS is working on a new TV series to revive the trilogy.
Director Brett Ratner and Scrubs director Bill Lawrence will be producing the show. The show will follow the same storyline that the movie plot had, featuring a Los Angeles cop who is assigned a case with a visiting detective from Hong Kong. At first, they don’t get along…then they do. The movie trilogy featured Jackie Chan as Detective Lee and Chris Tucker as L.A. Detective Carter. The new duo consists of Joo Foo and Justin Hire.
The movie series may have ended on a low note from small box-office numbers, but this TV show might be able to bring it back to what it was. But, it’s also following the same storyline that the movies did. I know it’s a reboot, but it should show something that makes it look different from the movie trilogy. Seeing two other people do exactly what Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker already have done make this a waste of time. This show needs to find it’s own exclusive and energetic part of this story to tell in order for this show to have a chance at having success.
The Rush Hour TV series will debut on March 31, 2016!
