If there’s a word to sum up this trailer it would finality. From the beautifully arranged main theme, the narration, to C-3PO saying goodbye to his friends, this really does feel like the end of this era of Star Wars that began all the way back in 1977.
Is this really the end though? Is C-3PO saying goodbye forever? Will Kylo dry off with a towel before he and Rey fight on that wet planet? Is Rey and Kylo destroying Vader’s mask together too big a spoiler? Is that really Palpatine or just Watto in disguise?
The answer to all of that is probably no, but we’re excited to see how the ninth and final episode of this iteration of one of the most beloved film series ever pans out.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes to theaters on December 20.
