Bats and Harley team up later this summer.
The latest DC animated film now has a new trailer and release date. Batman and Harley Quinn is set to debut this August on Digital HD and home video.
Putting her past behind her, Harley Quinn abandons her life of crime only to be recruited by Batman and Nightwing, who need her help to stop Poison Ivy from wiping out mankind. As you can probably guess, an uneasy alliance is born.
The film is based on an original story by Bruce Timm, co-creator of Batman: The Animated Series, and uses character designs very similar to The Animated Series successor, The New Batman Adventures. The similarities don’t stop there though, as Kevin Conroy and Loren Lester reprise their roles as Batman and Nightwing from The Animated Series as well.
Unfortunately, the original voice of Harley Quinn, Arleen Sorkin, is not reprising her role. Instead, Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory) is lending her voice.
While Rauch seems to be doing her best to match Sorkin’s Quinn, it just isn’t the same and is very distracting in the trailer.
Nevertheless, the movie still looks like a blast, and we’re excited to see how well (or disastrous) this team up goes.
Batman and Harley Quinn arrives on Digital HD on August 15, and DVD/Blu-Ray on August 29.
