New features regarding the No Man’s Sky economy are revealed in a recent interview with creative director Sean Murray.

No Man’s Sky is a new game coming out that will be a science fiction adventure game for the PlayStation and the PC. In the game, players are free to explore an entirely generated open universe similar to that of Skyrim. The catch is, it’s all in space.

Players are placed in the role of a space explorer with a spacecraft to explore the open universe. Throughout exploration, players are expected to interact with other spacecraft and various planets in order to learn new skills and acquire different information and supplies. Director Sean Murray recently described the processes in which players could trade and craft within the game.

In No Man’s Sky, users can go onto various planets to acquire materials in order to craft those materials into different products to sell at other spaceports or planets. In order to do this, players must learn skills, find the materials necessary, and then be able to manufacture these supplies into useful products. Murray has claimed that there won’t be any specific formulas for developing any of the products which will allow players to discover different combinations of items and skills on their own.

If going to planets and making different items isn’t your style and you’d rather stay in space, Murray claims that it is perfectly plausible to do so. The game contains a free-market economy that would allow players to buy objects in one location and sell them at higher price in another location for a profit. The game has a very involved AI population that will harvest and sell different materials without the player’s interaction. Murray claims that one of his favorite activities is to “just sit there[in space]…and watch the trade economy in motion.”

No Man’s Sky definitely seems like a one of a kind game with an unlimited number of possibilities and activities for the player. The game is set for release on the PC and PlayStation 4 later this year.
