Ridley Scott reportedly back to direct.

Ah, Prometheus. Who can forget that 2012 Alien kinda-sorta prequel; a film that had a strong showing at the box office, but was met with mixed reviews, and hundreds of fans nitpicking the film’s plot.

Despite this, 20th Century Fox has been pursuing a sequel to the film for sometime now, however, Prometheus 2 hasn’t happened due to Ridley Scott’s, the director of the original, busy schedule.

It finally appears that the awaited sequel is happening, and it may be coming very soon.

In an interview with Total Film, to promote his upcoming film, The Martian, Ridley Scott revealed that Prometheus 2 is indeed happening, and it will start filming this coming January.

Scott expressed his enthusiasm in returning to the series in the interview, by saying, “I’ve got back into the sci-fi thing, I kind of adore it.”

Chances are if you’re a fan of sci-fi films, you’re familiar with Ridley Scott. He is a veteran director, who is not only responsible for the first Alien film, but also the impeccable Blade Runner. Since Prometheus, Scott has directed The Counselor and Exodus: Gods and Kings, both not received well, so hopefully Prometheus 2 will indeed be a return to form for the legendary filmmaker.

Also, no word yet if Damon Lindelof will pen the screenplay for the film. I’m not here to judge, but many point to his script for the original as being full of confusing plot elements, and poor logic. Here’s hoping Prometheus 2 won’t leave some fans too confused.
