As with the previous casting announcements, the news was broke via the official Twitter and Instagram for the film.

Rebbeca Marie Gomez, aka, Becky G, is perhaps the most well-known actor to be cast for the film. Besides having appeared in Empire on Fox, Becky is also a pop-rap singer who gained notoriety from her remixes on YouTube. She also has a number of hit songs; her biggest being “Shower.”
The Yellow Ranger from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, which this reboot will based off, was Trini Kwan, portrayed by Thuy Trang.
Trini was intelligent, caring, and a bit of a tomboy. Often, she would accompany the Blue Ranger (Billy Cranston) in the creation of gadgets for the team.
With the Yellow Ranger now cast, the entire core team of Rangers has been assembled.
Becky G joins R.J. Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, and Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger.
We applaud Lionsgate and Saban for assembling an ethnically diverse cast of relatively unknown young actors. Good work!
One question remains though…Will a Green Ranger be cast? (Or is a Tommy Oliver cameo incoming?)
Only time will tell, but till then, we’re pumped for this reboot.
Saban’s Power Rangers mighty morphs into theaters on January 13, 2017.
