PlayStation State of Play – Everything Announced

A handful of exciting new titles are coming to a PlayStation console near you.

Sony kicked off the year with its highly anticipated State of Play presentation, offering a glimpse at several upcoming titles set to launch in the coming months. The showcase opened with fresh footage of Monster Hunter Wilds, reaffirming its release date of February 28. From there, the presentation continued to build momentum with a series of exciting reveals.

Sega took the stage with two back-to-back announcements. First, the beloved Shinobi franchise is making a triumphant return with Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, developed by Lizardcube and slated for an August 29 release. Following that, Sega introduced Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, the newest installment in the Sonic Racing series. While an exact launch date was not disclosed, fans can get an early taste of the action through a network test beginning February 21.

Bandai Namco confirmed long-standing rumors with the official unveiling of Digimon Story: Time Stranger, a brand-new entry in the Digimon Story series. Shortly afterward, Lost Soul Aside resurfaced with an action-packed trailer highlighting its rapid combat and diverse roster of characters. This long-awaited adventure is now set to arrive on May 30. Digimon Story: Time Stranger | State of Play

The Like a Dragon series also made a notable appearance with two key updates. A playable demo for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza will become available on PlayStation Network later this week. Additionally, Dave the Diver is set to receive crossover DLC titled Ichiban’s Holiday, featuring the fan-favorite protagonist from Like a Dragon.

Wrestling enthusiasts were treated to a special segment featuring WWE’s Paul Heyman, who introduced The Island, an innovative online social hub for WWE 2K25. Launching in March, this new mode will allow up to 50 players to engage in interactive experiences, compete in matches, and customize their characters.

2K and Gearbox Entertainment continued the show with an explosive new trailer for Borderlands 4, which now has an official release date of September 23. You can check out more details from Gearbox Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer, Randy Varnell here.

Horror fans received a chilling update on Directive 8020, the next installment in Supermassive Games’ Dark Pictures Anthology. This sci-fi horror entry follows a group of astronauts as they contend with an unsettling alien entity that mutates humans into grotesque creatures.

Another terrifying reveal came in the form of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic, which showcased an eerie environment where players must locate a vital animatronic component in order to survive. This latest installment in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series is slated for release on June 13.

Indie developer Moonwood introduced The Midnight Walk, a horror experience uniquely crafted with claymation. Players can immerse themselves in its eerie world when it launches on May 6.

Konami surprised audiences by revealing Darwin’s Paradox, a platformer centered around an octopus desperately trying to escape from a food processing facility. While a precise release date remains unknown, the game is expected to arrive sometime in 2025. You can read more about it here.

One of the showcase’s biggest surprises came from Koei Tecmo, which stealth-launched Warriors: Abyss, a roguelite spin-off of the Warriors franchise. You can read more about it here.

Capcom delivered major news regarding its Onimusha series. The remaster of Onimusha 2 has been officially dated for May 23. Additionally, the first trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, set for a 2026 release, introduced samurai legend Miyamoto Musashi as a key character.

After months of speculation, Metal Gear Solid Delta returned with a long-awaited update, finally putting rumors to rest. The latest trailer confirmed an August 28 release date and the return of the Snake vs. Monkey mini-games from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

A new look at Hell Is Us, an action title from Nacon and Rogue Factor, showcased a mysterious figure wielding an energy-infused blade while exploring a rain-soaked village. The game is now scheduled for release on September 4.

Neowiz followed with fresh footage from Lies of P: Overture, the first DLC expansion for Lies of P. The trailer provided a glimpse at an intense battle against a shadowy female adversary and a variety of grotesque creatures. The expansion is planned for release this summer.

Q-Games and Baiyon introduced Dream of Another, a third-person shooter where players alter their surroundings by targeting glowing orbs scattered throughout each level.

In a surprising move, Sony confirmed that Days Gone will be the next PlayStation exclusive to receive a remastered edition. The enhanced version is set to arrive on April 25, with PlayStation 4 owners able to upgrade to the PS5 edition for a discounted price of $10. Eclipse Glow Games unveiled Tides of Annihilation, an action-adventure title set in an alternate version of London that has merged with a nightmarish dimension.

Reikon Games revealed Metal Eden, a fast-paced sci-fi FPS emphasizing fluid movement and high-intensity combat. Players can get their hands on the game starting May 6.

A major announcement came from Build a Rocket Boy, the studio led by former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies. The team presented MindsEye, a third-person action game blending cinematic gunplay with high-speed chases. You can read more about that here from Build’s VP of Community and Creators, Dan Bulteel.

The presentation concluded with the reveal of Saros, the latest project from Housemarque. This ambitious title follows a lone warrior, portrayed by actor Rahul Kohli, as he faces an endless battle against a towering entity known as Magnus. Saros is slated for a 2026 launch.
