Will Turner will once again partner Captain Jack Sparrow in 2017’s Dead Men Tell No Tales.
[dropcap size=small]O[/dropcap]rlando Bloom will return to Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney announced at D23 on Saturday. Bloom’s Will Turner was absent for On Stranger Tides (2011); his last appearance in the franchise was in 2007’s At World’s End, which means that by the time Pirates 5, Dead Men Tell No Tales, hits theaters, he won’t have appeared in a Pirates film for a decade. Woah.
Bloom’s return has left fans wondering whether Keira Knightley, who played Turner’s love interest Elizabeth Swann in the first three films, will also make an appearance in the latest installment, but the Imitation Game actress has vowed not to return to the franchise.
Bloom will rejoin original cast members Johnny Depp (Captain Jack Sparrow), Geoffrey Rush (Barbossa) and Kevin McNally (Gibbs) in Dead Men Tell No Tales, while Skyfall‘s Javier Bardem will play the movie’s villain, Capt. Salazar.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has an initial release date of July 7th, 2017.
