And the crowd goes Wilde! (Olivia Wilde. The actress. It’s a play on words. Get it?)
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund are both set to return for Tron 3.
Joseph Kosinski, who directed Tron: Legacy, will also be returning to serve as director of Tron 3 for Walt Disney Pictures.
It’s unclear if Jeff Bridges, who starred in the original 1982 cult-favorite Tron, will return to the role of Kevin Flynn for the new sequel.
Tron: Legacy followed Flynn’s son Sam as he enters the video game world of the Grid, where his game developer father has been trapped for 20 years. There, he meets Wilde’s character, the fearless warrior Quorra, and together they battle to escape the dangerous cyberworld.
A sequel has been expected since the release of Tron: Legacy in 2010, as the film performed rather well, and it was apparent that Disney was looking to reinvigorate the property as a new lasting franchise. Details on the sequel are being kept under wraps, but it’s expected that the production will begin shooting in the fall.
