[dropcap size=small]P[/dropcap]erhaps recognized as one of the scariest franchises in video game history, Silent Hill has left an impression on gamers for over a century. Now the series that has spawned a dozen cross-platform titles (as well as two movies) is coming to next generation consoles, reports Bloody-Disgusting.
Earlier today, during the Gamescom Trade Fair in Cologne, Sony revealed “Silent Hills”, the next installment in the survival-horror franchise. While the storyline has yet to fully be explained, the trailer (shown below) features Walking Dead star Norman Reedus.
Silent Hills is coming from the creative minds of director Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pacific Rim) and video game creator, director, and writer Hideo Kajima (the Metal Gear franchise).
Though we do not have a release date or additional plot details, we can say that Silent Hills is easily one of the most intriguing games announced during Gamescom 2014 so far.

The mysterious P.T. downloadable game on the PlayStation Store happens to be a Playable Teaser (P.T.) for Silent Hills. After nearly 4 hours of playing through the teaser, we had dealt with riddles, random events, and chills running down our spines. While most players are providing walkthroughs of their journey to completion, it would appear that almost every single player has found a slightly different way to getting to the end. We aren’t going to lie, we looked online a bit for some guidance, but it didn’t really do us any good. We found our own way and it was completely random, making for a quite frustrating, yet incredibly creative way to get players through the unique and lengthy demo.
