The new trailer for Arkham Knight introduces Nightwing, Robin, and Catwoman fighting alongside Batman.

[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]n the latest trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight that was released by Rocksteady Studios, the “Dual Play” mechanic is brought into focus. While the video does give away hints about the main plot of the game, the majority of the video focuses on Batman and his famous costars taking down thugs. The video has acquired nearly one million views since its release yesterday.

Judging from the scenes in this new trailer, Batman is going to need all of the help he can get to defeat this man who calls himself the Arkham Knight. The threat he poses to not only Batman, but the city of Gotham, is so large that the Dark Knight is going to have to team up with some old friends. To do this, Batman will be fighting alongside Nightwing, Robin, and Catwoman using the Dual Play mechanic.

This Dual Play mechanic is similar to Grand Theft Auto V in the way that the player can switch seamlessly between three characters. While playing as Batman you can switch to either Catwoman, Robin, or Nightwing in free-flow combat. Essentially you can drop down from a roof top to kick a thug in the chest while playing Batman. Following up this action, you can switch to Nightwing to deliver a rapid and devastating combo to the thug before he collapses. If you must be near certain parts of the city to switch to either of the three vigilantes is unknown at this time.

Whether or not the feature can be used throughout the whole game, as well as when it’ll be introduced in the game, remains to be seen. For now, we’ll have to drool over what Rocksteady Studios has given us. The ultimate Batman fan’s dream.

Batman: Arkham Knight is available June 23.
