National Treasure 3: International Treasure confirmed.
Nic Cage is a jack-of-all-trades. When he isn’t turning in an amazing performance in an amazingly horrible film, he’s saving the world, one T-Rex skull at a time.
Rolling Stone reports that Cage will personally return a Tyrannosaurus bataar skull that was illegally smuggled into the US from Mongolia, even though he bought it in the first place.
Apparently, Cage won the skull at auction back in 2007 for $276,000 (beating out Leonardo DeCaprio), and was unaware that it was illegally brought to America. He has since cooperatively agreed to handover the skull to the Mongolian government.
This 67 million-year-old skull is one of many fossils illegally sold by paleontologist Erik Prokopi, who has since been convicted for his prehistoric crimes.
We applaud Nic for doing the right thing, and we think it’s only fair that a movie adaptation is made of this historic event. You’re doing God’s work, Cage.
Here’s Nic at his Cagiest.
