The long-awaited new Star Fox game is featured at the recent Nintendo E3 conference.

In the recent E3 conferences, it was almost universally agreed upon that Nintendo came up a little bit short on content released. The Wii U console does not seem to be getting any crazy updates like the Xbox One or PS4 and the variety of games released were nothing to write home about. However, fans of old school video games did get a bit of a treat. Star Fox fans specifically were pleased with the updates on the upcoming Wii U game, Star Fox Zero.

Nintendo video game designer and producer, Shigeru Miyamoto talked about the game and told the audience that it was not to be viewed as a sequel or prequel to any of the Star Fox games. Despite having the word zero incorporated into the title, which suggests a prequel, Miyamoto actually just likes the Chinese subscript for zero (pictured on the game cover).

Star Fox gains some pretty cool updates to his Arwing jet that he has flown for so many years. One of the new features of the Arwing, is its ability to transform into a Walker for battles that occur on the ground. This feature was supposed to be apart of the Super Nintendo game, Star Fox 2, but Nintendo waited until now for implementation. Another cool new feature of the Arwing, is the gained access to the Gyrowing. The Gyrowing is said to be the equivalent of a drone that will help explore and discover smaller locations that the larger Arwing cannot access.

Along with the updates to the Arwing, there is a pretty useful feature for gameplay. In the traditional game, on screen you view Starfox from the third person which can create some difficulty for aiming and such. With the screen on the Wii U, users can use the gamepad to view from the first person to improve their accuracy. The third person viewing angle still provides for better views of the surroundings while the first person viewing angle will aid in hitting your target.

Below is a trailer of the gameplay that was revealed at E3. The game is slated to release during the upcoming Holiday, 2015.
