Combined with some behind the scenes footage, interviews, and scenes from the film, this “Celebration Reel” gave fans a sneak peak of the upcoming film. Interviews with Felicity Jones and Diego Luna display their determination and passion to make the film great with Luna claiming that “it’s like being a kid again” regarding being on set with all the droids and stormtroopers he grew up watching. Some of the older film characteristics were evident in the preview with various original Star Wars trilogy characters, droids, and space settings making appearances, but the video also introduced a variety of the newer characters and places the film will feature.
During the panel discussion surrounding the release of the above reel some details regarding some of the new film characters were revealed as well.
K-2SO
A new droid we haven’t seen before, it will be a 7’1 towering droid that will be Cassian’s (Diego Luna) sidekick/best friend. According to other revealed information, K-2SO’s memory has been wiped that previously contained valuable information for the Rebellion meaning he will most like have significance in the film’s plot.
Chirrut (Donnie Yen)
Physically he’s a blind man wielding what looks like a staff. However, his blindness will not inhibit his ability to fight off some Stormtroopers.
Director Oson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn)
We know that Vader makes an appearance in the films, but Krennic is another “smarter” Empirial bad guy who apparently wields an army of Deathtroopers.
Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker)
One of the rebel leaders, his character has been fighting the Empire for years with an army that according to Whitaker, “fights to the extreme”. Trained by the Jedi, Gerrara will “by any means necessary” work to help save the galaxy from the Galactic Empire.
On Twitter, a new movie poster was revealed as well displaying a beach scene with a looming Death Star in the background.

The film is a standalone with a plot that zones in on a group of Rebel heroes attempting to steal the plan for the Death Star. Despite being “not apart” of the original trilogy, the film does play of the trilogy’s plot line and is sure to be an instant hit.
The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story film will hit theaters this winter, on December 16th.
