It looks like Ash and Pikachu will become best buddies all over again in the upcoming movie.
Last week during the Japanese variety show Oha Suta, the title and poster for the 20th (!) Pokémon film was revealed.
The film will be called I Choose You!, and from the looks of it, the movie is a retelling of the first episode of the Pokémon anime.

A brief teaser trailer for the film was also released, but it doesn’t give us too many more hints about the film’s plot. Why did they change the logo on Ash’s hat?
Based off the poster, and what we see in the trailer, Ash is dressed in clothing similar to what he wore in the original series, and in the poster, he and Pikachu see Ho-Oh fly past them, which occurs at the end of the first episode. Not to mention, the very first episode of the anime is titled Pokémon – I Choose You!, so all signs point to this being some sort of retelling of Ash meeting Pikachu.
We don’t know any additional details yet, but this the most excited we’ve been for a Pokémon film in some time. With the 20th anniversary of the series coming to a close, what better way to celebrate the enduring anime then deliver some nostalgia to long time fans.
