“…Indiana Jones. I always knew someday you’d come walking back through my door. I never doubted that. Something made it inevitable.”
The above is a quote from the 1981 film, Raiders of the Lost Ark. The day has finally come for Indiana Jones to make a comeback.
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]hen Disney bought Lucasfilms in 2012, the rights to all of George Lucas’s film franchises came with it. Everyone was thinking “new Star Wars movies,” and there are at least 5 in the works. What people might forget is they also have the rights to a little movie called Indiana Jones. Everyone knows who Indiana Jones is, but it has been almost 8 years since we last seen the whip-cracking archaeologist but now the giant stone ball has finally started rolling.
Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilms president says,
“When it will happen, I’m not quite sure, we haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.”
That’s better than nothing right? The big question is whether or not the 72-year-old Ford will be coming back to put on the trademark hat and whip. With the next Indiana Jones movie years away, we can only hope that he will return. Ford will reprise his role as Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, that shows the actor is still willing to work and re-visit characters he is familiar with.
The Actor hasn’t ruled out reprising his role as Indiana Jones, but there are talks of even having Bradley Cooper or Chris Pratt becoming Dr. Jones. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a perfect set-up for Shia LaBeouf to take over the rains, but Disney will be looking for someone new to portray Indiana Jones for this new age of fans.
