In the midst of a massive company hack, another (less serious) bit of information tied to Sony has been leaked to the public. The news?– That a new God of War game is in the works.
The source of this information comes courtesy of Sony Santa Monica studio’s creative director Cory Barlog during the God of War retrospective panel at the PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas.
During an audience Q&A, Barlog confirmed the game’s development in response to a question posed by a member of the audience. Based on corporate response, it seems like this bit of news may have been preferred to stay under wraps.
Don’t tell anyone what @corybarlog just said #PlayStationExperience#GodofWar

IGN reports that according to Barlog, the game is in early development, and that he hoped to share more in the next coming year or two. What he did offer in terms of details was that the game was “definitely not going to be a prequel”, but could perhaps be a reboot for the series.
When IGN asked whether Kratos would once again be the protagonist of the game, Barlog was “unwilling to answer”.
Let the speculation begin! Do you think Kratos will return? What could be in store for the new God of War game? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
