20 minutes of Star Wars: First Assault has been released via Reddit.

Star Wars Battlefront is only a couple of weeks away, and while we are super hyped to get our hands on it, it’s time to look back on a Star Wars game that never saw the light of day.

Star Wars: First Assault was set to be a first-person multiplayer shooter that would have released on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Unfortunately, the game was canceled after Disney acquired Star Wars in 2012.

Little is known about the game, but luckily, a gameplay video showcasing First Assault was recently posted to Reddit. The almost 20 minute long footage displays a Tatooine multiplayer map, as well as a variety of weapon classes.

Check it out below.

Despite apparently being in early beta, which is the reason why no enemies or bots spawn, the game looks pretty good.

The map look big and vibrant, and the weapons are fairly diverse and authentic. We especially like the bowcaster weapon.

Sure, the footage also looks very similar to a Call of Duty game, especially Black Ops 2, but the Star Wars influence is very present.

First Assault is one of a couple Star Wars games that was cancelled when Disney purchased the franchise and it’s key game developer LucasArts.

1313, an action-adventure game set to star Boba Fett, was also cancelled, although Visceral Games’ mystery Star Wars game is said to be similar.

RIP First Assault, you showed potential. May Battlefront be the success you aspired to be.
