Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, one of the biggest hands involved in destroying The Witcher that forced beloved actor Henry Cavill to depart, is no doubt hard at work with some other boneheads at Netflix trying to ruin more of the franchise with an upcoming prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin.

Earlier this week, Netflix released the first trailer for Blood Origin, which stars Sophia Brown, Michelle Yeoh, and Minnie Driver in a story that takes place some 1,200 years before the main series with Geralt.

Set in an elven world 1200 years before the time of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, The Witcher: Blood Origin will tell a tale lost to history: the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that led to the pivotal Conjunction of the Spheres, when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one. This four-part prequel series premieres on Netflix on 25 December.

Created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Declan de Barra, The Witcher: Blood Origins will undoubtedly follow in the steps of its predecessor while under Hissrich’s guidance as she is likely to do everything in her power to tank the series. However, with Declan de Barra serving as showrunner, it will be interesting to see whether or not he tries to keep the show in line with the source material or not. Considering his tenure on the original series as a writer, we won’t hold our breath.

The Witcher: Blood Origin will premier exclusively on Netflix and disappoint fans worldwide this December.
