On a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live John Stamos announced that Netflix will be reviving the popular ABC series Full House (1987-1995) in the form of a continuation series called Fuller House.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he new series, created by Jeff Franklin of the original, takes us back to San Francisco and centers around DJ Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron-Bure), a recently widowed mother of two boys, pregnant with her third. In need of help, she reaches out to her sister Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin), an aspiring musician, and Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber), her best friend/single mother of a teenage daughter. Oh, and Kimmy is pregnant too. Three adults and five kids? Sounds like a fuller house alright.
Here is the clip of John Stamos announcing the series on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Just by the way he talks about it you can tell that he’s really excited about this new project, or he’s just really happy to be done with those Oikos yogurt commercials. Either way, if John Stamos is happy, we’re happy. Stamos is set to produce and make guest appearances as the beloved uncle Jesse Katsopolis. Rippers reunion, anyone?
As for the rest of the cast, the press release states that they are still in talks with Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, Lori Laughlin, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Considering the relationship that Bob, Dave, and John have in real life, we’d bet money that we’ll be seeing the whole group back together at some point.
Mary-Kate Olsen spoke out about a possible return during an interview with US Weekly saying:
“We just found out about it today, I guess we’re going to talk to the creators and see what’s happening.”
Ashley Olsen then added:
“I ran into Bob the other day and we didn’t even talk about it. I’m going to call and get his perspective.”
We’d say that sounds pretty promising. At least they’re considering it instead of turing it down completely. From the sounds of it, this reboot could be alright. Netflix has been having a lot of success with it’s original programming, why should this series be any different? Even their latest Inspector Gadget cartoon reboot is good. As huge Full House fans, we have faith.
Are you excited for the second coming of Full House? Are you sad that DJ didn’t end up marrying Steve? Well listen, if she married Steve then this new show would be called Hale House and she wouldn’t need anyone to move in and help her out because she’d have Steve. That show sounds horrible. At least this way we can have him join the sisterly/Gibblery hijinks as a potential guest star at some point. Maybe even a romantic interest that brings along even more kids. Oh the possibilities!
Netflix will premiere a one-hour long reunion special followed by 12 episodes of Fuller House on it’s streaming service sometime in 2016.
Must. Not. Write. Have. Mercy.
