After nearly 3 years of waiting, Mighty No. 9 is ready to hit consoles and PCs come June 24th.
[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]fter several setback and delays Keiji Inafune, the creator of the highly anticipated video game Mighty No. 9, has announced that the game has “gone gold”. The game’s website describes Mighty No. 9 as a “Classic Japanese side-scrolling action, evolved and transformed by Keiji Inafune, an all-star team of veteran Mega Man devs…and YOU!”. The game will be released in North America and Asia on June 21st, and worldwide on June 24th for all platforms except for Playstation Vita and Nintendo 3DS, which will be released at a later date.
Mighty No. 9 started as a Kickstarter campaign back in September of 2013 by Mega Man fans with over 67,000 donors crowdfunding the campaign for a combined amount of $4 million. The game was originally supposed to be released on Windows by Comcept before versions for Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS were added. The promise of delivering to other platforms plus several multiplayer features were to blame for Comcept announcing three delays in the game’s release date.
“It has been almost three years since the start of our Kickstarter campaign, which was only made possible through the support of our backers and fans around the world. This is a project where everyone’s passions were combined in order to create something very special, and we are looking forward to delivering the final product to everyone who was involved. There can be no stronger connection between game creators and game fans.”
Mighty No. 9 will be released for all platforms excluding Playstation Vita and Nintendo 3DS on June 24th. Versions for Playstation Vita and Nintendo 3DS will be released at a later date.
