The latest Marvel movie does surprisingly well overseas compared to Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.
[toggler title=”TL;DR” ]Ant-Man pulls in $55.4 million at the International Box Office, thus beating Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. Ant-Man is the second most popular movie at the International Box Office, with Universal’s Minions taking first place.[/toggler]
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]hile Ant-Man may have been the number one movie at the United States Box Office, it was the second most popular movie at the International Box Office. Universal Studios’ Minions is the most popular movie overseas, taking in $66.1 million compared to Ant-Man‘s $55.4 million. However, Ant-Man did make more money at the International Box Office compared to Marvel’s Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.
In grand total Ant-Man made $112.6 million, with the film making $55.7 million domestically. However, Marvel and Disney’s marketing department analysts believe that despite Ant-Man‘s alarmingly slow start, news about how well the movie did during its first opening weekend will encourage more people to go see the movie in theaters. Over the next coming weeks the film is projected to take in somewhere between $150 and $200 million. This is good news considering the budget for Ant-Man was one of Marvel’s lowest, costing $130 million.
