That is the future you see hmmmm? Hamill admits to being out of work after Star Wars 8!
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]n an interview with Ray Davies from The Kinks, Mark Hamill commented on his character, Luke Skywalker, saying that he will be out of the franchise after Episode 8.
In front of an audience, Hamill announced: “I finish Episode VIII, and then I’m out of work.”
Unlike Episode VII where we didn’t even see a minute of him, Hamill’s role in the next episode should be expanded and there are rumors that Skywalker will team up with Rey (Daisy Ridley) in a fight against Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).
This scene was first shared by Making Star Wars after pictures emerged of the actors filming in Malin Head, Ireland.
Episode VIII will be directed by Rian Johnson and actors John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Gwendoline Christie, and Benicio del Toro will star in the movie.
This will be Hamill’s fifth (and last) appearance in the Star Wars franchise. Interesting to see that we haven’t hit 2017, yet such a spoiler is leaked to the fanbase. I guess all good things must come to an end, but the first jedi we’ve ever seen will finally bow out of this historic franchise will still hurt to see him go. We don’t know if perhaps he will be in Episode IX or not, alive or dead. Maybe he pulls an Obi-Wan Kenobi and becomes a force ghost in Episode IX. It’s a long way to go before December 2017 features Episode VIII. It’s all speculation at this point. I hope Hamill is just pulling a trick or joke on us with this statement (as he has done in his past work).
What do you make of Hamill potentially being out of the Star Wars franchise after Episode VIII? Let us know in the comments below!
