The Director of the latest Star Wars movie reveals Ren’s role!

[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]t seems like Star Wars news has been released left and right, whether it’s about the new movie, Star Wars: Battlefront, or the Disney TV series Star Wars: Rebels. In a recent interview with Empire, Director J.J. Abrams revealed that Kylo Ren, the main villain in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and played by Adam Driver, is not a what everyone thinks he is.
“Kylo Ren is not a Sith,” Abrams said. “He works for Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the dark side of the Force.”
Snoke (played by Andy Serkis) will be in a motion capture suit.
Ren is similar to Star Wars: Rebels character The Inquisitor, which ironically, is also not a Sith Lord. But he was ordered by Darth Vader to take down any Jedi that survived Order 66 and would not serve the Empire. Also Ren sides with neither the Rebellion or the Empire, but with the “Knights of Ren.” Not much is known about the “Knights of Ren” at this point.
When Abrams was asked about The First Order, he compared it to the Nazis, something that George Lucas also did with the Empire for the original trilogy.
“That all came out of conversations about what would have happened if the Nazis all went to Argentina but then started working together again?” the director explained. “What could be born of that? Could The First Order exist as a group that actually admired The Empire? Could the work of The Empire be seen as unfulfilled? And could Vader be a martyr? Could there be a need to see through what didn’t get done?”
While he was at the San Diego Comic-Con this year, Driver described Kylo Ren as someone who feels he is “in the right.” But everyone has heard this feeling before from someone evil right?
Abrams later revealed that Kylo Ren is not his name, but rather one that was given to him when he joined the “Knights of Ren.” It is also known that Ren is obsessed with Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.
